This web site looks to uncover some interplay between the past and future, the threads of character and interest, the patterns of experimentation that map a personal, artistic history.

Ivana Starcevic

Ivana’s love for interdisciplinary mixed media possibilities is deep-rooted. When she was nine, she re-created her entire elementary school population as paper dolls, which she drew, cut out, labeled and sorted. The dolls were attending separate learning courses organized and carefully arranged on her family’s kitchen table.

Later, as an art student, Ivana explored various disciplines and techniques, letting intuition guide her towards the crossroads of ceramics, photography, graphics, sculpture, painting, technology, and information design. Restless and curious, she experimented with combinations of disparate yet complimentary art mediums as well as various forms of technological research. Ivana’s work gave image, form, and voice to her urgent sense of self-expression.

Ivana’s academic explorations culminated with an MFA in Mixed Media from the Academy of Applied Arts University in Belgrade. Her art exhibition history includes international, national, and local venues, and her works are included in a number of museum, public, and private collections.

As a Creative Director and Information Manager for a Fortune 100 corporation, she currently combines her technical skills and fine arts background, turning abstract concepts into cutting-edge digital communication and custom training solutions. Though paper dolls seem far away, Ivana continues to engage in social networking, knowledge management and information design—now using high-tech Knowledge Management environments, eLearning systems and multimedia design.

While her career provides another set of challenges and opportunities, Ivana hopes to one-day return full-time to her first loves: painting and photography. When and where she can, Ivana captures spirit of place in her art, finding inspiration in her surroundings as well as her memories of place. She intends to continue to explore sense of place with future creative projects. Resident of New Mexico, Ivana is intrigued with the local, American Southwestern cultures and the area’s beautiful light, architecture, and nature. With nostalgia, she looks back to images from her homeland and medieval Serbian and Byzantine art.

Meanwhile in the digital realm of information technology and multimedia, Ivana continues her quest and exploration of the possible and creative. She loves what she does and hopes her passion is contagious.
